The Bureau of Land Management's proposed Resource Management Plan would limit the ability of foresters to ensure the health, resiliency and accessibility across much of the 2.5 million acres of Western Oregon O&C forests, according to a letter sent by the Oregon Society of American Foresters (OSAF) to BLM Director Neil Kornze. The society represents over 800 forestry professionals in the state.

Community members got a head start at celebrating Earth Day this year at the 16th annual Douglas County Earth Day & Energy Fair on Saturday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Outside Exhibit Hall, kids ran around laughing with sparkly painted faces while adults took in a hybrid car show to the sound of people hammering bird houses together.
On March 9, the Oregon Department of Forestry will recognize the 2015 Operators of the Year for responsible, innovative, proactive work that protects natural resources. The winners are WyEast Timber Services LLC of Hood River, Giustina Land & Timber Co. of Eugene, Hull-Oakes Lumber Co. of Monroe, and R&R King Logging Inc. of Florence.
